Amping It Up: Our New IPA Mixed Packs
Our next 2022 IPA Mixed Packs have arrived just in time for summer, delivering a pair of new Propagator Series beers that showcase some of our favorite new-age hops.
Crafted at our Propagator R&D Brewhouse in Venice and perfected at our Paso Robles brewery, these IPAs are the latest taste of what’s next from Firestone Walker.
Melon Conspiracy – Hazy IPA
We amped things up with a pair of our favorite hops to create Melon Conspiracy–a subversively flavorful hazy IPA.
True to its name, Germany’s Melon hop sets the tone with its soft, melon-like flavors. We then blend it with Mosaic, the hottest new-school IPA hop from the Pacific Northwest, which conspires to complement its comrade with punch aromatics.
“Melon is a newer German hop that I keyed in on while traveling to hop farms in Hallertau nearly 10 years ago, when I was formulating our Easy Jack IPA,” said Brewmaster Matt Brynildson. “It has only gotten better over the years as the hop fields have matured and the farmers have mastered how to grow it.”
He added: “Mosaic is a cool newer hop that everyone is throwing at their hazy IPAs. It’s a highly aromatic and aggressive hop, and Melon helps soften it up a bit, which makes for a perfect hazy IPA.”
All of our 2022 IPA Mixed Packs are inspired by music, and we even named each of the beers with the help of a random band name generator. To keep with the spirit, we’ve compiled a playlist of tunes pefect for kicking back with a Melon Conspiracy in hand. Listen below.

Mandarina Effect – West Coast IPA
The beat goes on with Mandarina Effect, a West Coast IPA that blends Germany’s Mandarina Bavaria hop with Centennial, the legendary Pacific Northwest hop that helped drive the explosion of the IPA style.
Both of these hops work in perfect synchronicity, with Centennial’s floral grapefruit and juicy fruit gum flavors bringing out the best in Mandarina’s zesty orange character.
“Centennial has been a lead IPA hop for us dating back to the creation of Union Jack more than 10 years ago,” Matt said. “I’ve always thought of Mandarina as the German equivalent of Centennial. It’s not quite as potent or pungent enough to stand on its own, but it’s a perfect fit for hop-forward beers, and blending it with Centennial is just a natural fit that brings out the best in both hops.”
Look for Mandarina Effect in our new bottled IPA Mixed Packs alongside Hopnosis and Union Jack. It’s rolling out now to California, Arizona, and Nevada. Use our Beer Finder to locate a retailer near you.
