At Firestone Walker, we’re not just beer lovers, we’re also avid musicians and music fans.
So, we’re thrilled to partner with our friends at Ernie Ball, located down the road from us on the California Central Coast, to announce Electric Eagle, a limited-release West Coast IPA bursting with hop flavor and a west-coast attitude.
Electric Eagle is available on draft and in four-packs at all our locations and select retailers now. You can also buy it directly from our web store or with our custom beer box feature.
See where you can find it by you and read on to learn more about both the beer and the relationship between two Central Coast legends.
Why Ernie Ball? Well, when it comes to guitar strings, we’re all about Ernie Ball’s use of the latest technologies, finest materials, and unbridled creativity. For those out of the know, Ernie Ball is the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality electric guitar and bass strings since 1962. World-class players like Paul McCartney, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Slash, Jimmy Page, and Buddy Guy have all played Ernie Ball strings to create their unique sound. And, almost just as importantly, they share a home with us right here on the Central Coast.
So, when we were sharing a few beers together, an idea was formed: why don’t Central Coast legends work together in harmony to create a beer that’ll make some noise on the scene. The result? Electric Eagle West Coast IPA.
Brewed with Mosaic, Simcoe, Nelson Sauvin, and Riwaka hops, a lean base of pilsner malt, wheat, and rice keeps things clean and relatively dry in the finish for a big IPA. The aroma pops with notes of berry, tangerine, and papaya, with just a hint of crackery malt to round things out. This is an IPA that’s all about punchy hop flavors with enough body to support.
We used multiple hop products in this beer, including standard hop pellets, cryo pellets, and Incognito extract, which is a flowable hop extract designed for adding to the whirlpool for high aroma impact. Fermentation with a more neutral and attenuative yeast strain than our typical house ale strain focuses the hop character and brings this more in line with the typical modern SoCal style of super pale and dry IPA.
What does that all mean? Well, this is a beer that is an unparalleled palette of expressive options.
