Central Coast brewing somehow just got a little brighter, especially now considering we brought home four medals from the European Beer Star Awards.
And, to be honest, we’re not even pretending to be surprised. This world-class brewery snagged three golds and a bronze at one of the most competitive beer contests on the planet. Yeah, we’re bragging.
For those not in the know (we’ll forgive you… this time), the European Beer Star Awards are a big deal. Like, the Oscars of beer. Founded in 2004, this competition is a battleground for brewers worldwide, showcasing the das Beste bier. Judged by a panel of professionals with palates sharper than a hop pellet, these awards celebrate authentic, high-quality brews across 70-plus categories. TLDR? If you win, you’re kind of a big deal.
So, what beers put Firestone Walker in the winner’s circle? Let’s break it down:
Firestone IPA – Gold, New-Style Pale Ales
This is the California sunshine in a can. Bright, balanced, and hoppy enough to make your taste buds high five, it’s a reminder that Firestone knows its IPAs like every other hop-head.
DBA (Double Barrel Ale) – Bronze, English-Style Bitters
The OG of Firestone Walker’s lineup proves it’s still got it. DBA’s malty, toasty goodness is basically a liquid hug—and apparently, the judges thought so too.
Framboise – Gold, Wood and Barrel-Aged Beers
Rich, tart, and packing the kind of complexity that makes sommeliers swoon. This barrel-aged beauty is proof that fruit in beer doesn’t just work—it wins.
Antwerp Calling – Gold, Belgian-Style Tripels
This golden brew is a love letter to Belgian brewing. It’s as smooth as it is strong. It’s like the beer equivalent of that one friend who’s always put together, no matter what.
Winning four medals here isn’t just impressive; it’s legendary. The European Beer Star Awards are known for being fiercely competitive, and Firestone Walker crushed it on an international stage.
For us, though, this isn’t our first victory lap. Since launching in Paso Robles back in 1996, we’ve been a cornerstone of California’s craft beer revolution. Our brewing philosophy? Go big or go home. Whether it’s pioneering barrel-aging or perfecting pale ales, we’ve consistently set the bar for what American craft beer can be, and we couldn’t be more excited to be recognized on an international stage.
Want to celebrate alongside us? Crack open a Firestone IPA, toast with a Framboise, or sip on a DBA like the champion you are. Cheers to Firestone Walker for repping California and showing the world what craft beer is all about.
