Well, we certainly love to talk about how much we love Pivo, our all-time pilsner suitable for daily, sipping, enjoyment.

But it turns out a lot of people like talking about this dry-hopped marvel that pioneered a new generation of American pilsners too. Like, The Wall Street Journal. That’s right, the paper that outlines your dad’s favorite stocks also has a favorite beer, and it’s the beer that kicked down and liberated American pilsner from the clutches of industrial beer.

In the recent article titled article, “A Grand Tour in a Can,” the Journal cracked into the topic of how a recent string of pilsner brewers are drawing on global ingredients and nuanced techniques to, “win over beer snobs.” And, Wall Street Journal, we agree, Pivo is, “built to please.”

We won’t spoil the article, as it’s a great writeup and all credit is due to both the Journal and their writer Joshua M. Bernstein and it’s certainly worth a read. But before you click over to this link, we’ll leave you with some select quotes as a primer.

“‘A pilsner is one of those beers that you go to your grave trying to perfect,’ said Matt Brynildson, brewmaster at Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, Calif.”

“Firestone has spent more than a decade refining its highly hopped Pivo Pils. It’s categorized as an Italian-style pilsner, part of a passport-punching trend of unique pilsners drawing on the brewing styles and ingredients of Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and beyond.”

“The aromatic style is trending at craft breweries nationwide, but Pivo remains a benchmark.”
